COMPLIANCE FOR DATA PROTECTION

The Parish is aware of its statutory obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 with regard to Personal Data and Sensitive Personal Data.  As such, we can confirm compliance with the following data protection principles:

  • We will process your data fairly and lawfully.
  • Our purpose in asking you to provide your data is to update our parish records, and also to ascertain your willingness to contribute your time to supporting and developing the parish.
  • We will use the data obtained to plan our liturgies, as well as to understand the current and future needs of the parish, and all our parishioners.
  • We will only ask you for the data that we need from you, and which is relevant for achieving this purpose.
  • We will update your data when you advise us of any changes, and dispose of any out-of-date data securely (either through shredding of hard copies, or secure deletion of electronic records).
  • We will only keep your data for as long as we need it – if we no longer require it, we will dispose of it securely (either through shredding of hard copies, or secure deletion of electronic records).
  • We will process your data in accordance with your rights – you can request access to your personal data which we hold about you.
  • We will keep your data secure – the only people with access to it will be the Parish Priest, the Parish Administrator, and your Stewards of the Gospel. We will keep your data encrypted on the parish computer and keep the passwords confidential.
  • We will not share your data outside of the parish or the diocese, unless you have explicitly told us that you are happy to share your information with another organisation.
  • We will not transfer your data outside of the European Economic Area (EEA).
  • For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, the Data Controller will be the diocese; please send any queries in the first instance to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
